Cost per listing

What a staged listing actually costs per usable image

The plan price is not the cost of the listing. The cost is what you pay divided by the images that survive review, and that depends on how many images you generate and how many you reject.

Run your own numbers

The rework rate is your assumption, not a measured rate from us. It counts delivered images you reject at review, not generations that failed.

10 imagesImages to generate
$0.58Plan rate per usable image
$4.90Credit value for this listing
Solo, 1 monthSmallest plan that covers it
$15.00Lowest monthly checkout
$1.88Effective cost per usable image

The plan rate spreads the selected plan's per-image price over the images you generate. The effective cost uses the smallest plan that covers the images and the images you needed, so it counts the whole monthly fee against one listing; spread over several listings a month it falls toward the plan's per-image price.

The formula

images to generate = ceil(images needed ÷ (1 − rework rate)) plan rate per usable image = plan price per image ÷ (1 − rework rate) credit value = images to generate × plan price per image lowest monthly checkout = smallest plan whose monthly images cover the generated images effective cost per usable image = lowest monthly checkout ÷ images needed

Worked example: 8 images needed, 15% rework, Agent Pro at $0.49 per image. Images to generate = ceil(8 ÷ 0.85) = 10. Plan rate = $0.49 ÷ 0.85 = $0.58 per usable image; credit value = 10 × $0.49 = $4.90. The smallest plan covering 10 images is Solo at $15.00 a month, so for this one listing alone the effective cost is $15.00 ÷ 8 = $1.88 per usable image.

What the number leaves out

  • Sales tax, which is calculated at checkout.
  • The time spent selecting, uploading and reviewing each image.
  • Any editing done to the photograph before it is staged.
  • Other listings in the same month: the calculator charges the whole monthly fee to this listing.
  • Anything other than staging credits: photography, floor plans and print are separate costs.

Questions

Why divide by one minus the rework rate?

Each usable image needs 1 ÷ (1 − r) attempts on average when a share r of delivered images is rejected and generated again. At a 15% rework rate, one usable image needs about 1.18 generations, so the effective cost is the plan price per image divided by 0.85.

What rework rate should I use?

Use the ratio you have observed on your own listings: images generated divided by images you published. If you have no history, stage one listing and record both numbers. We do not publish a rework rate because we have not measured one.

Does a failed generation spend a credit?

No. On this site a credit is spent when an image is delivered, and a failed generation is returned. The rework rate here is for delivered images you reject at review and generate again, because those do spend a credit.

Is the smallest plan the right purchase?

It is the lowest monthly outlay for the images this listing needs. Unused plan images carry over, up to one month’s allowance, so the price per usable image falls as you stage more listings on the same plan.

Where the arithmetic stops

Three inputs the calculator cannot see

Time spent choosing and reviewing, the share of images the agent rejects after the client sees them, and any subscription minimum on the other side of the comparison. The formula covers the credits, not the working hours.
